Foundation
First of all, I would like to thank everyone on these forums for the wealth of infomation provided. This is my first post, but I feel as if I know everyone. My wife and I have been faithful readers for the past four months, and have been educated on the vast amount of very valuable infomation. We live in North Mississippi and have visited almost every dealer in the area, but have decided on and ordered a Patriot Pinnacle 32 x 74, to put on two acres of land we own. We love the floorpan and feel as if our dealer has our best interests in mind, as well as providing us with the best home for the money. The home should be delivered by the end of May. My question concerns the integrity of the foundation. Our land was undeveloped, and today we completed clearing trees and leveling of the pad for the placement of our home. Our dealer plans on putting concrete runners (four 24" wide X 70' long with 8" depth). There were two large trees located within the foundation area that were removed. In these areas the dirt filled in seems to be more loose than the areas that were simply leveled by the bulldozer. My question is will the areas where the tree stumps were removed be stable enough to support the entire runner foundation, or should I be concerned that the foundation may shift or crack. All rooms in the home, with the exeption of bathrooms, will be taped and textured sheetrock. My dealer says that the foundation will be secure, but I want to be sure. Should I be concerned with releveling in the near future? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Again, thanks everyone for the information that, I believe, made me an informed purchaser.
Re: Foundation
If you had fill dirt brought in to fill the holes was it put in by hand or heavy machinery?Pads are usually leveled in by a dozier and the weight of the machine compacts the dirt nicely. If you just had dirt dumped into the stump holes compact it yourself with
a truck car etc.You should not have to ever worry about releveling or cracks if the house is set right on this foundation system.
