I am a therapist and need a 3 bedroom home with 36" doorways (all), lower cabinets, reachable vents, low-pile or faux-wood looking flooring, etc...for someone who is totally wheelchair dependent.

What is your suggestion?

ADA standards, so to speak, are different for each family, depending on what person in the family requires these facilities. If it is the primary resident, this would require a greater degree of accessability, than if it was a child. Most manufacturers have floor plans that will allow the wider doors etc. Most all will do all vinyl or even wood or laminate flooring. The ADA bath components are also relatively available. The cabinets on the other hand, can be different as to the parties needs, but here again many manufacturers will be able to construct the kitchen to your needs. I have just finished a project where the product being built was independent assisted living homes for a government agency. Take a look at turtlehomes.com or run them through a search engine for a look at another home available in the industry for ADA.

Most builders will modify the floorplan that can accomodate a wheelchair into the home. I know of this company in Topeka, Kansas the builds only manufactured homes for disabled people. Turtle Homes www.turtlehomes.com # 785-272-5535 and they are very flexible in building manufactured homes and can move around walls and windows, counters and anything that an individual wants.
