ELECTRICAL NIGHTMARE

Post by jimmy ainsworth » Sun Mar 30, 2003 5:25 pm

hello i have sort of weird problem.i have a 4 month old legend 28x80 multisection home. ihave tried to narrow the problem down as much as possible. i have always had a light fluttering problem, first the power company installed a new transformer and took care of everything on their end, and i was clear on their end.used to they would flutter just when the washing machine was in the wash cycle not spinning etc...just washing.you could cut the washer off and the fluttering would stop alltogether cut it right back on washing and they would start fluttering again. VERY NOTICEABLE. i took an extension cord and changed outlets, plugged the washerin on other outlets,no change still fluttering i was thimking it was the washer, now the lights sometimes flutter with hardley anything on in the house, but the more lights on in the house the worse they flutter,by the way my house is totally electric with a 200 amp service pole which was used in the same place on my old mobile home which never fluttered. my service department where i bought it is at wits end. it may go 1-2 weeks without fluttering then they will flutter maybe a week or so. THEY ALWAYS FLUTTER WHEN WASHING MACHINE IS IN THE WASH CYCLE, NOT SPINNING OR FILLING UP WITH WATER JUST WASHING,.SOUNDS WEIRD BUT TRUE when i say flutter i mean a steady shake in the lights, when they flutter all rooms does it not just certain ones . MY NEXT MOVE IS TO HIRE AN ELECTRICIAN,but i dont think i should have to , the house being under warranty. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED THANKS JIMMY

A quality troubleshooting electrician seems to be in order...He should be able to find the problem..then if it is the home you can present the bill to the manufacturer...It is probably a loose ground wire somewhere on the washer circuit..but that is only a guess...Good Luck
