Insulating a Mobilehome
Re: Insulating a Mobilehome
All manufacturers offer insulation and energy savings options...unfortunately many folks do not want to spend the extra few dollars...If all consumers demanded top of the line insulation features...All homes would have them...
There is a new program that is being sponsored by the US Department of Energy..called the Energy Star program...This is an exptensive program of energy features the maximize the energy efficiency of the home...The process to get certified is extensive....Some manufacutrers are already offering "Energy Star" homes...You can go to the government web site and search for manufacturers in your state...
www.ENERGYSTAR.gov
There have been certified homes available since March of this year...Yet I have had not 1 consumer ask about the program..or not 1 willing to pay the difference to get the program...As I said..in the real world..customer only give lip service to energy efficiency and are not willing to pay for the better home...I have often wondered why...but true none the less..
Shop for an Energy Star home if you are serious about energy savings..

Re: Insulating a Mobilehome
Hi Jeff, Unfortunately, all MH's are not equal in quality, price, and energy efficiency. Most factories offer upgraded insulation to all their customers. I do not leave that decision to my customers as I want them to be happy with their home and their electric bills. Doesn't cost a great deal to upgrade and its certainly worth it as you well know. If your home has poor insulation, you can call an insulation company to blow it in for you. The cost is about 65 cents a sq. ft. in my area. Not bad considering the savings long term. Good luck, Judy
