PoorFleetwood
PoorFleetwood
I really do think Fleetwood gets a bum wrap. We moved into the Fleetwood entertainer built in elizabethtown pa plant and love it. we opted for the 2x6 walls and sky lights and solar tubes and some other options. i can honestly say that i am pleased with the whole experience of dealing with fleetwood and the dealer to rectify some issues and problems. the house seems to be very well built and is absolutely beautiful. my biggest dissapointment is the coleman gas heater............i would direct anyone to a fleetwood dealer at least here in PA.
I know that the house is not "top of the line" in the industry but we paid about 55k for it and have a lot of home for the money.

Re: PoorFleetwood
Fleetwood builds many different quality home through the nation...Each product is a value for the money...The problem comes when the customers expectations are that they are a better home than they are..Seems like you expectations are right on track...
Often the homes are over sold by sales persons..This is why sites like these and others on the net can help a lot..
All manufactured homes are a reasonable buy..if the customer knows what they are getting and expectations are correct for the product they chose...

Re: PoorFleetwood
This is what I don't understand - -- I looked at the Entertainer at the Dawsonville, GA dealership and the price quoted was around $72,000 I think - it may have been more - I can't remember the exact figure - but Chris (the above poster) says he bought his for $55k. Dawsonville had another model that did not have an actual name but the price was $63k. Up the road in Commerce, GA, that same model was $53k. The cheaper model was not at a corporate-owned store - does that make a difference or is there something else involved here?
Re: PoorFleetwood
We have been looking at several fleetwoods and the entertainer we looked at was a 32 by 80 and it was very beautiful. The price before options, which wouldn't be many because the home is upgraded already, is 59,000. Bedrooms are small so we are still looking.
Are 2 by 6 walls a must and what about osb verses plywood flooring? Any other musts we need to make certain to get?

Re: PoorFleetwood
The Entertainer model we are buying is model #4723B, 28x72. There are at least 2 Entertainer models out there. We are paying 59,900 base price and getting the drywall package and 5/12 roof pitch for about 7k more. We're also getting some small walls removed, changing the fireplace to brick, adding a door, and moving a window. They are "throwing" all that into it with no extra cost. Anne
Re: PoorFleetwood
Hmmmmmmmmm - sounds like Dawsonville, GA is little high. I KNEW that salesman was a little slick. He was just too smooth - every objection I raised was answered with - "Well, if you don't like that floor tile/light fixture/whatever, we'll just go down the road to Home Depot and change it out for you." By the time I left, we'd almost completely rebuilt 2 houses with Home Depot materials. On the other hand, while I was in there that day an older couple who recently retired came in who had already bought their home from that dealership after they sold their 2-story brick site-built home. They both raved and raved about how happy they were with their house, how great Fleetwood had been, blah, blah, blah. In fact the man said that he wished he'd known several years ago about how great manufactured housing was, you can't beat the value, etc. etc. etc. They even invited me to come to their house. It was the best advertisement I've ever seen/heard for ANY product.
Re: PoorFleetwood
I think most manufactured homes are well built. The quality is about equal among manufacturers, in my view. Within these companies, however, there is a wide range of quality, with the least expensive homes having the worst quality and the most expensive homes having the best. I currently live in a Holly Park--which is excellent, but I understand that brand name has been taken over by someone else. At one time I owned a Fairmont, which didn't seem quite as nice as the Holly Park as far as trim pieces, quality of doors, etc.--but the overall building was fine. All the dealers talk up their brands, which is understandable. I would say if you go with a company that has been involved with this businss for years--like Fleetwood, Schult, Patriot, etc--you can't go wrong. But I live in the midwest and some of these brands might not be available down in dixie.
East Tennessee Fleetwood
I purchased my home in May from one Fleetwood dealer after a terrible experience with a different Fleetwood dealer in this area. I'm in East Tennessee too.
I love my home and I've been very please with the dealership that sold us this home. Mine is from the Meadowbrook series.
If anyone is considering a Fleetwood in the East Tennessee area, I'd be happy to talk with you about my purchase.
