Multiple questions:
1. The Solitaire home we're in the process of buying does not come prewired for phones or any sort of cable TV. The sales rep said we would have to wire it ourselves. Is there any special way I should do this short of drilling a hole in the floor where I want to run the wire.
2. I've been told that mfd homes have large holes underneath where the plumbing and electrical openings feed into the home. Though there is insulation under the floor, I want to seal these holes to ensure no varmits (mice, scorpions, etc.) get into the home. Short of ripping up the bladder, is there an easy way to seal these openings (was thinking about using the spray foam in a can).
3. Since the home we are buying does not come with any sort of stairs, or deck; we're going to need to get decks up quickly. We'd like to not only put up a covered deck over the front and back doors, but also over the side entrance where a small utility area is. This will in all likelihood be the main entrance with high traffic. How can I get a covered deck built on the end of the home that has no existing roof? Also, the counsel I've seen in this forum is to never attach anything to the mobile, including a deck. If this is so, how would the deck be constructed to provide stability and proper roof seal?

"1. The Solitaire home we're in the process of buying does not come prewired for phones or any sort of cable TV"
This is very common...few if any manufacturers offer prewiring...some offer jacks prebuilt in but no wires...some of my customers have wired phone and cable jacks on the marrage walls while the home is still apart...otherwise..you do have to come through the floor in the location that you desire...In our area..electrical contractors have found this to be a nice added service to offer when they are already there to wire the homes service..My contractor offers jacks...cable or telephone wired at $ 25/jack...You might ask your dealer if his electrical contractor does the same...
"2. I've been told that mfd homes have large holes underneath where the plumbing and electrical openings feed into the home"
HUD requires that all new homes be verman proof...There should be no holes under your home when set properly...Is there any home perfectly vermin proof?...If so there would be no pest control business...By the way..you might want to termite treat your home and ground for long term protection..
"This will in all likelihood be the main entrance with high traffic. How can I get a covered deck built on the end of the home that has no existing roof? "
I am not sure which end of your home this is...but a roof over a deck can be tied into any side of the home.often those roof additions on the hitch and tail light (if they were there) sides are built just under the overhang of the original roof..On the long sides most roofs are built with similar materials as the original roof and hipped into the original roof....A prebuilt factory dormer is not necessary to do this...actually a prebuilt dormer is somewhat limiting because size and location will be set by the plant...not the homewoner....As far as attaching add ons...often the roofs are tied in...but should be done professionally so...Decks should not be nailed to the side of the home...
Good Luck w/your new home..
