Data Plate
Re: Data Plate
The inspector is stupid....The bricks do not even touch the home...I would perfer a caulking seal instead of the proposal the inspector has suggested...Look better...
Local building inspectors can be a real pain...Power makes them like little dictators..Or they are waiting on thier normal renumeration...The little gifts that builder so regularly give them..
I hope he looked at the things that matter...footings, blocking, water and serwer connections and anchors..

Re: Data Plate
He said everything else was fine. My husband is insisting that it'll fail again because it wasn't EXACTLY what the inspector specified, even though I think the mortar caulk is just as good, if not better. I guess I'll find out at 9am.
Re: Data Plate
The husband gets to do the "I was right" dance tonight. The caulking is not acceptable - it has to be a metal or vinyl strip sloped at an angle. Now I'm majorly pissed because I told them the inspector wanted that in the first place. The town clerk said they've required other homes in the area to do it.
Data Plate
Mr. Murrray, where exactly is the data plate located in the powerhouse? I've looked in the cabinets in the laundry room and the kitchen, but don't see one. Also, are there supposed to be covers for the flourescent lights in the kitchen? The fixtures are there, but uncovered.
Re: Data Plate
To be sure..I just went and checked..
My model was built in the Al plant and the data sheet is adhered to the back of the cabinet door below the kitchen sink...Most of our Cavalier product has the sheet in the same area..
It is likely yours was built in the Bellcrest plant in Milan, GA...Sometimes they put the data sheet in the master bedroom closet...
Yes the kitchen light fixtures come with covers..They are shipped loose and not installed until you put bulbs in the fixtures..Should have been with the set up parts inside when it came in..

Re: Data Plate
I will be sure to look for that today - we went out yesterday (the plumber STILL hasn't shown up to run the pipe from the water heater to the house, and the well at my rental house went dry for good sunday night - two homes, no water!) and I totally forgot to look, mainly because it was 3,000 degrees in the house.
Waiting to hear about the inspection now....

Re: Data Plate
AND WE FLUNKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The brick contractor did a rush job, and we have about 2" of brick jutting out on both ends of our house. The inspector says that water could run up underneath it, and rot our floors, and that all the dealer needed to do was to put a piece of metal or vinyl at a slope and seal it, and if they fix it TODAY, then he'll reinspect it tonight. I'm rather irked because the service manager was "well, I don't know if we can do it today..." yadda yadda, even though I informed him the town inspector will be out of commission because he's having major surgery tomorrow.
I am going to end up on either anti depressants or high blood pressure meds now.

Re: Data Plate
The service manager thinks the inspector is nuts. He said they've put 8 houses up in that development, and none of them have ever had this problem. He left a message at the inspector's house, and is going to set up a meeting between the two of them to figure out exactly what needs to be done. After all, we're getting this info through the town clerk, and what she's describing could be completely different from what the inspector wants, and he said from the way she's describing it, what he's saying they need to do could potentially void the warranty on my vinyl or cause other problems.
SM said the same thing you did Mr. Murray... that he hoped he paid as much attention to the blocking, anchoring & footers as he did this. It's ridiculous to hold up my electrical permit over something as petty as this.

Re: Data Plate
Like I said....your dealer is honorable and expects a public servent to preform without additional consideration....
I agree with your dealer about a flashing attached to the home...

Re: Data Plate
I went out there and looked at it yesterday -any space between the brick and the vinyl is now sealed up. Go figure. Oh well. We're going to move all our things into the house this weekend, and stay at my parents until this gets resolved.
I did see the data plate though! It was right underneath the sink on the left!
