Hello,
I'm looking at a 1991 manufactured home on a permanent foundation. Instead of hiring a general inspector, I'm considering checking the basics myself and hiring specialists only for major items.
Main concerns:
Foundation leveling and condition
Electrical safety
Septic system (professional inspection)
Roof leaks or damage
Water heater age and condition
Would it make more sense to skip a general home inspector and only hire specialists for the big-ticket items? Has anyone taken this approach before?
Thank you so much!

You can catch obvious issues yourself, but some of the most expensive problems are exactly the ones that are easy to miss without trained eyes. A hybrid approach you check basics bring in specialists where it matters is sensible.
