Adding on and remodeling

Post by DFiske » Thu May 23, 2002 1:39 pm

I have a question concerning upgradability on a permanent foundation MH home? Lets say I purchase a 28x60 home and in 5 years its too small for me or I want to redo the kitchen or a room. Do I have to hire a manufactured home "specialist" contractor or will any cotractor be able to work on a manufactured home? Is this even an option, can I do additions to a manufactured home? I have also heard of a "tag" room that can be added as an option at the time of order. This is a room that adds about 300 sq ft and is added on one side making it a tripplewide. Would this be an option I could add down the road, at reasonable cost or should I shell out the cash for this option up front? Any input would be great.

For major modifications to the home in the future, you can use any contractor that you would trust with any home...

The 3rd sections available for triples are NOT available for retro fitting in the future..

It is always much cheaper to buy extra square feet when the home is new..With interest rates as low as they are you could add about 600 sq ft to this home for about $ 50.00/mo...You should think about it and get all your budget can afford...Just remember that you would not want to sacrifice quality for square feet...It would be better to sacrifice features than quality..

Thanks for the advise, I will definitly sacrifice features before quality I want a good resale value since its going on piece of property and not in a park.
