Hello All,.

Is it possible to take off panel tack strips and then tape texture and paint gypsm wall boards?

Hello Joe,

Please notice we have the book you need to get the best results for your project. Take a look at The Book Store and specifically Painting and Texturing Paneled Walls from Aberdeen Repair.

Thanks and good luck with your project!

I sure hope so because I've already got my new sheetrock nailed up and taped. LOL!

I did notice that parts of the wall paneling are glued rather than stapled so you have to do a bit a chiseling to get a smooth unlumpy stud. The biggest pain I had was finding electrical boxes to fit in 2 X 3 studs (1 1/2 X 2 1/2) instead of full 3 1/2" studs.

Where did you find your electrical boxes? I also put up new sheetrock, textured the walls and love the ending results. I've had done this to our first home and never had any problems.
