Laminate Flooring preparation

Post by Dianela5 » Sun Nov 25, 2012 9:16 am

We would like to take up the carpeting that came with our home (3 yrs old) and put down Laminate flooring. Do we need to do any special preparation for this? We are over a cement slab with a crawl space. I am concerned about moisture from under the home although I have not experienced any that I know of. Is there a certain material that we need to put under this laminate flooring?
Thank you,
Diane

There are different types of laminate flooring. Your best bet is to get full installation directions from the producer of the product you intend to use. If you have heat/air ducts in the floor, be sure to get directions for preparing the area around each duct, and directions for extending and covering the ducts above the new floor.
