Re: kitchen cabinets
Kitchen cabinets are usually not anchored to the ceiling but to the wall behind them. It is possible that the cabinet installers missed some of the wall studs. In my own home I have seen my cabinets start to sag from years of being overloaded, despite being installed correctly. It was the ones where we stored can goods that we overstock during hurricane season.
I removed everything from the cabinets, used a jack, on the counter top, to gentility move the cabinet system back into place. I cut a piece of plywood and put it between the jack and the cabinets. So I was lifting the entire frame of the cabinets, not just one edge. Once they were back where they belong I used three inch screws to fasten the frame of the cabinets to the studs in the wall.
