Furnace size

Post by eugpenn » Sat Dec 12, 2009 6:27 pm

I am north of Detroit and have a 1986 Marlette double wide appx 56x27 with the original furnace -Intertherm 65K BTU. It has always been insufficient for the home. What BTU, probably Coleman, do you suggest?
thanks

The same BTU in a new furnace will likely do the trick. Reason being a new furnace will be more efficient which means the output BTU will be higher. Today with a furnace of the same or similar size, you should be able to raise your output BTUs by 5 or 10 thousand. Look closely at the tag on your furnace and you should be able to find your output BTU as well. Look at both numbers when comparing furnaces to find out how much heat you will get. Input BTU tells you how much gas it will burn, not how much heat you will get.
