Canadian prices

Post by browe » Sun Jun 08, 2008 10:19 am

I have been looking at local prices here in Canada and noticed that the prices south of the border are half of the price here. I have emailed a wholesale distributor in the US and he said they would be producing CSA standard homes soon. Can anyone explain how I can compare and know I am getting a fair deal? I know the two major manufacturers here have been bought out by Champion homes. Thanks.

Forget the wholesaler in the US...Shop only with dealers in your local area. Retail prices usually include the home plus add ons such as a/c, underpinning and local delivery requirements...Delivery and set up could well be less in some parts of the US. I assume you have accounted for the differences in currency value when you compare...

Of course you can pay US prices..All you have to do is move a little South..

Thanks for the reply. The canadian dollar is close to par with yours and sometimes over. Would you think that $130,000 for a basic 1200 sq foot double wide with no upgrades delivered and set up to be a bit high in your area?
Thanks.

Thats good to know that the prices are not out of line. A lot up here is close to $200,000. I like the area you live in just a bit too hot in the summer. They golf almost year round here maybe a week or two when you can't and the weather is never too hot or too cold. I live on Vancouver Island it is Canada's retirement and vacation mecca and growing like crazy. Thanks again for your comments.
