setting up your double wide

Post by rikkiperez » Thu Apr 24, 2008 1:33 pm

I havea question.

We have an older model 1973 skyline that had a small fire in it and we decided it was time to upgrade. So, we have purchased a new 2008 Schult home. Well, we got a call last week and were told we have to get out as soon as possible out of our old mobile becuase they need to have this one tore down and the new one put up before 20 days or the mortgage loan defaults??????

Typically, how long does the construction process take? 20 days seems way too fast as I have heard these things can take months....

Just curious what your exp. is as to how long you had to wait?

Thanks In advance.

20 days seems a little optimistic to me..Call your dealer and read your paperwork closely..I doubt the mortgage would be in default but a construction loan does have a short ( usually 6 months) termination date..but often lenders will extend the time period if the interest is paid on time...Bestr that you consult with your dealer and lender for exact information...Land prep can take weeks in some areas, then the set quite some time..

As this is a replacement and not the first installation of a home on your site you already have what you need for water, sewer and electric. and probably will have a shorter turn time than if you were starting with a vacant lot.

If you have any doubts as to the terms of your financing contact the lender directly and request direct answers to any questions in your mind. It is very important that you understand EACH and EVERY part of your loan deal. The failure by many people to take the time to chase down the details of their loans is a prime cause for the current mortgage business melt-down and foreclosure crisis.

If you have any questions about the installation process and the time involved direct them to your retailer. It is not unreasonable to ask for a schedule on paper and a reasonable time frame... especially as you will be removing your current home and waiting for the new one to be finished for your basic shelter.

The Manufactured Housing Global Network is proud to have the exclusive rights, to offer you the most effective way ever, to learn about the step by step process involved in properly installing a manufactured home. A great video seminar with George Porter, the industry's most respected installation specialist.

Mr. Porter leads you through a two hour viewing experience that will prepare you for the numerous operations and complexities involved in the installation of the modern manufactured home. This information will help you understand the entire process. This will give you an edge when dealing with the retailers sub-contractors and help you make sure the site preparation is done properly.
