Hello everyone. I am so overwhelmed in this MH buying process that I don't know where to begin. My husband and I have been searching for several years now for just the right MH that we can live the rest of our lives in. It is a hard decision when you are looking for a lifetime commitment. We considered building a home but with everyone's horror stories on their contractors, we decided against it. We both work and do not have time to sit with contractors to oversee that everything is done correctly. SO we decided our best route would be a manufactured home. We have looked high and low and FAR!!!!!!haha I have been reading on these forums for a while now and decided it was time to get involved. What I am looking for is peoples PERSONAL experiences. Does anyone have any experience or advice about homes manufactured by Norris out of Bean Station, Tennessee?? My home will be placed in Kentucky and so far IMO of all I have seen in about a 200 mile radius Norris seems to be the best built. But I am a first timer and I KNOW my knowledge is very limited. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
PS I know everyone’s first response is to buy The Grissim guides and I plan to. My local library requested them but for some reason they were turned down.
HELP!! Norris Manufactured Home
Re: HELP!! Norris Manufactured Home
You are rght...We will recommend the guides...I have seen Mr. Gissim offer library copies here on these boards...No matter but his guides are a small price to invest in the process..Especially if you are looking at " a lifetime commitment."You might want to e-mail John directly about your library..
You can find him here http://www.grissimguides.com/contact.htm
Norris is now part of the Clayton family of companies...They are the top end of the Clayton built homes..Clayton is the largest home builder in the nation..If you buy one from a quality dealer you will have a great home...

Re: HELP!! Norris Manufactured Home
I have been reading alot of posts from 2004, 2005 and 2006 downing the quality of a Norris home. The home I am looking at, after all the upgrades, is going to be close to the 100K mark. That IMO is a lot for a manufactued home. I definitely don't want to pay that for shoddy quality! If anyone out there has ANY advice on this subject I am open to all facts OR opinions.
Re: HELP!! Norris Manufactured Home
$42.00 per square foot IS NOT HIGH FOR QUALITY HOUSING..i suspect most of the negative posts you have seen, actually refer to dealer and setup problems...Your choice of dealer is just as important as the choice of brand...A basic home done by a great dealer will be a good value for the buyer...just as the highest quality home sold by the shoddy dealer will be a nightmare..
