I'm not sure what this is called, we are new to Man. Fac. homes and we are renovating. just wondering if we can fill in this crack and put vinyl tile over it (just for like 3 feet) or if it will cause problems with the tile squares or not. thanks

Start by making sure that the 2 sections of your home are level to each there so there is no ridge in the floor between them. You might want to consider an overlay the area that you want to tile with smooth faced quarter inch plywood sheeting. It comes in 4x8 foot sheets and will give you a brand new smooth sub-floor install the new tiles on.
When you install the plywood sheets butt them tightly together. Lay them in in a brick type pattern and be sure you have no seams directly over the center line of the home. You can use floor leveler to smooth any minor gaps or irregularities between the sheets. Running large amounts of some levelers directly under some types of vinyl can result in bleed through after a very few years that totally spoils the look of the vinyl. Ask they folks you purchase the tile from what works best under their products.
If your looking for a book that covers all facets of manufactured home repair, take a look at The Manual for Manufactured Home Repair & Upgrade now also available in e-book version for instant download.
