cabinets

Post by Karen M » Sun May 20, 2007 7:16 am

What is the best way to paint my wood cabinets in my kitchen. Do I sand them, and then use a primer? We have spent a lot of $ on this MH putting it on a basement, and now I want to update the upstairs rooms.

Thanks,
karen

Most of the cabinets that I have worked on in manufactured homes have been built with pre-finished materials. These are usually a composition board with a very thin veneer finish. In most cases it is best NOT to sand this material as you will quickly remove the finish layer and find yourself into the grainy composition board below. I have had the best results when we use a high quality primer paint and then spray with a glossy finish paint. Use the best quality paints you can find. It really makes a difference.

If your looking for a book that covers all facets of manufactured home repair, check out The Manual for Manufactured Home Repair & Upgrade. It is available in print version and now also a an e-book for instant download.
