Plumbing leak in older mobile home

I have accessed the plumbing panel on the side of the home (1965). The shower is leaking & there appears to be a black box that the pipes from the shower & toilet go into. What is that box? The toilet is also leaking but i think it may be the ring which I can replace. Thaks for any help. Joan
