Solitaire MH

Post by Cathy Lazarine » Tue Feb 20, 2007 10:01 pm

We are interrested in purchasing a new Solitaire MH from the dealer in Victoria, Texas. Since we are first time buyers, we will take any advice offered. I have done research and they seem to be made pretty well, some of the best I have seen, but are they really telling me the truth?

I read a comment from Terry in 2001 and was wondering if anyone has any more current information. Since they insist on 100% funding before the home leaves the lot, I am a little concerned.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Cathy,

I too am looking at homes from the same dealer. Eric and Pam were both very professional. I have experience with Palm Harbor and the difference between prices is night and day. To me both provide an awesome built home, but when it comes to prices, Solitaire has them hands down. For what we ordered at Palm Harbor, we could have bought two Solitaire homes. Granted the Palm Harbor home we ordered (thank God the deal fell through) had every bell and whistle that we could think on it, the Solitaire home was the better priced. I am glad that we continued to look than going with the Palm Harbor. Now as for the other two lots in Victoria, Luv homes was not even in the same league and we never set foot on the A1 lot. We are definitely shooting for a Solitaire home. As far as the 100% financing before the home leaves the lot, that is pretty much a standard from any dealership. They just don't want to get stuck with a home that didn't sell. So don't be concerned. I would ask the same thing if I were selling something. You can have it when you give me all the money. That's just how business is done. Good luck in your purchase.

Thanks for the reply on the Solitaire MH. I also think they are the best so far. I had looked at the Oak Creek on I 10 and was not impressed. My lender suggested that we look at the Solitaire, so I figured they were built to last.

Good luck also!

I have heard pros and cons about getting homes from out of state sources, and I know of one woman personally, who sent money, never got the home and had to go to a local dealer after all. She will be fighting to get her money back. If there are many local dealers who can provide the best prices and quality, why not support your local brick and motar store front dealers who can be contacted by walking into their business? You can also contact any better business bureau to research complaints, or if they are trading on the internet, look up their name at Google.com. My point is, if you can look into their eyes and shake their hands, as well as sign a contract together - do your homework!
