DECORATIVE SECURITY BARS ON WINDOWS

Post by Blueyes409 » Sat Dec 02, 2006 5:41 am

We purchased a mobile home with the decorative security bars on the windows. The bars are on ALL windows, and on the back side of the home they are on the top on the outside and on the bottom on the inside. There is also a new/nice security system on the house. When we did the walk-thru the guy told us there was a button on them you pushed to open them (when I asked what happens if there's a fire). We later found out there's is NO button and no kick plate. We need to have these removed. Short of taking the grinder and ruining the siding, we need to find the key that takes the bolts off..it's a special kind of key. Can't find it anywhere..any ideas? Or even if it would be way too costly to convert them to the kick plate kind? Thanks in advance

I have been involved in manufactured housing here in Florida for almost 30 years and have never seen a MH come form the factory with the type of security system your talking about. I doubt that the bars were installed by the builder, or were developed specific for manufactured homes. Your probably looking at an after market item that could be installed any home windows. Find a local lock smith to help you with the key you need.
