New Back Porch

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this project? Ours is exposed to the elements, is made of plywood, covered with some sort of outdoor carpet. After 11 yrs it is rotting away so we stripped it all down to the bare wood to see what it was made of & how it was put together...very badly I might add ;-(
Got an estimate from a MH handyman company for $900....Well after we determined it was a box, meaning empty underneath with smaller boxes attached for each of the stairs we figured we could do it ourselves. The original goes down on both sides, but we never use that side so are going to build it with just one side & the landing. Any tips and/or stories would be appreciated.
