Silvercrest or Palm Harbor

Post by jerrydensmore » Sat Oct 21, 2006 8:11 pm

I need some help on this. We have a lot in Sonora CA. that is almost ready to place a manufactured home on. Septic, water, power, driveway and pad. We will use Foundationworks pier system. This will be our retirement home and want a top of the line home. We were sure about our choice of the Silvercrest MO18 ( a shorter version of the MO7) I just noticed a Palm Harbor home with the same floorplan. The quality and floor plan is what we saw in Silvercrest. Now the questions, at 69 ft long we need to be about 5-9 ft shorter, can that be done? How does overall finish and construction compare to Silvercrest? How do base prices compare to Silvercrest? On thing I saw that I do like over Silvercrest is delivery (normal) and set-up are included. What kind of $ does that usually amount to? I've looked at the factory in Corona and very impressed with Silvercrest homes, but try to sway me the other way, I would like to see how this homes might differ! Thanks.

From what I have seen (here in Oregon) both are very good quality. Usually you will have some ability to shorten the home within limits (engineering is done for a model, and to have it done cutom would cost more). At least in Oregon, standard delivery and setup within 100 miles is customarily included in the price; be sure to compare apples and apples. Both are good homes; picking a good dealer is very important, since they'll be doing or managing your setup.

We have a Karsten home from Stayton, OR that we like very much. They do a good job - I can't speak for the Sacramento plant.
