Skirting ?

Post by Bunky » Thu Jul 13, 2006 5:48 pm

I have a MH and it has cement block skirting there's about 2" gap between the Top of the block and the bottom of the house... The previous owner stuffed insulation in the gaps and now it's leaking air between gaps.. Is there a Better way to seal this gap??

Home Depot sells a 2" foam core in 4 X 8 sheets. Fill it in and follow up with cans of foam to complete the seal. You're probably only looking at 3 1/2" or 6" on the concrete form so even at 6" you should get 40 to 48 ft. per sheet.

Not a pro so it's just a thought.

Your house will fluctuate and move making the gap widing during one season, less during the next. I would stay with insulation as it can flex with the house to a degree. Besides, nothing wrong with getting a little air underneath the home.
