Repairs under home

Post by Mischelle Hamilton » Wed Mar 22, 2006 3:33 pm

We are in dilema and would like any suggestions.
We have a 1996 Skylight on a block foundation. We love the property we live on and are satisfied with the house with one exception.
We are unable to find people willing to go under the house to make repairs. For example, the heat vent to my son's room stopped working last winter and we cannot find anyone who will come out and fix the problem. My husband is not agile or slim enough to do it himself.
We have considered building a basement under the home but are finding it cost prohibitive. We don't want to sell and move, either.
While the problems so far have been minor, we worry that a major problem, along with our age, will make it impossible to stay in the home or to sell it.
Does anyone have any problems similar to this and could offer any advice.

thats a little confusing. If the heat stopped then it is blocked in the ductwork somewhere. If you cant find a repair man to go under the house , why? Every man especially a handyman has a price. you need to give more info to help

It sounds like the duct is disconnected. If you can't go under the house, you will need to keep looking for someone who will.

somthing I learned a while ago, when I needed to find help with something. go for a drive and look for a house with a couple of cars in the driveway that are being repaired. that is ussually a sighn of sombody that is good at figuring out a problem and correcting it. also it shows that they like to do things for themselves and they could probably use a little extra money. If they don't want to do the job chances are good that they know sombody that will.
