We have a huge mirror in the dining room. It is floor to ceiling and about five feet wide. I'd like to get rid of it.
This may seem like a very dumb question, but what's behind it? If I have someone take it down, will there be a wall I can primer and paint? (On the other side of it are the walls of the laundry room.)
Oh the mirrors of the 1970 homes! Glad they went out of style.
What's behind this HUGE mirror?
Re: What's behind this HUGE mirror?
There probably is a wall, but can't you pull it back part ways and look, say with a flashlight?
Re: What's behind this HUGE mirror?
It's probably glued with liquid nails or contact cement and some times you can pry it back very gently slowly with a stiff putty knife, if it does'nt break it will leave a glue residue to scrape off it's dangerous to do this so wear protective goggles gloves etc. Whats behind it??? glue glue glue
Re: What's behind this HUGE mirror?
If it's glued onto paneling - you could hang fabric over it, if it isn't easily removed. If it's a '70's home, I bet it's glued securely.
Re: What's behind this HUGE mirror?
These are great ideas!
I will try peering behind it with a flashlight. The sides do move a bit out from the wall, so I'm hoping it's not glued.... and that there are just some paneled walls that I can paint.
If all else fails, I'm going to ask my handyman (who practically lives here anyway, it seems).....
