Pool Table

Post by kevin » Tue Nov 29, 2005 3:47 pm

I would like to put a pool table into the livingroom of my 2004 Fleetwood Vogue model. Is there any advice on anything that should be done to the flooring in advance ?? Or, should the floors, (which are typical Fleetwood Crestdeck) be able to handle the load ??

Tahnks for any advice.....-kevin

The floor decking is designed to take a 40# load per square foot and be able to take a 200# concentrated load on a 1" diameter disc, without delflecting more than 1/8"
So to answer your question in a nutshell, NO.
I have seen the floors of several homes, deflect way too much after a few months of supporting a pool table.
The best you can do it spread the weight out as much as you can, over as many floor joists as possible and place large peices of wood under the legs to help.
Otherwise, you will need to level the pool table every couple of days.
Or, buy a real cheap pool table (wood not marble).

Thanks for the advice guys. As much as I really want a pool table, I am still debating if I want to chance it or not. The table would set length-wise with the joists, so with wood underneath from leg to leg (side to side), it would cover the span of 3 joists. Using this technique, I would have to check with the table maker to see if it would add too much height to the table.....

In the mean time, I am going to get a small multi-task gaming table (200 lbs.) to see how much fun I can get out of it......
