My daughter wants to hang a large shroud" from her ceiling to enclose her futon bed on the floor. Trouble is the drywall is so thin--I believe it's 3/8" thick--every hook, insert, molly bolt or anything else is pulled through the hole by the merest accidental pull on the attached shroud. Same problem with trying to attach shelves to a wall. The hardware pulls out of the wall.
We have never lived in a home where the drywall was so thin that everything had to be fastened to a stud. Now, our manufactured home is only 4 years old. We were told that it was built to the same specs as a stick built. We were lied to.
What can we do about hanging decorative pieces from the ceiling or hanging shelves from the walls?

Thin Drywall Ceilings
Re: Thin Drywall Ceilings
No manufactured homes are built to the same specs as a stick-built home. If they were, people would be just moving them into town and parks would be non-existant.
Anyway, what you need to attach stuff to 1/4-3/8" drywall is a thin-wall anchor. Click HERE to see an example.
