storm doors

Post by judy » Tue May 17, 2005 4:02 pm

I need to replace my front and rear storm door and also the back door . Am I able to get doors from Home Depot or Lowe's that will work or must I order from a mobile home parts dealer. I have a Redman 1990 doublewide. What are combination doors I see advertised? If my existing door is not a combination door can I still use one of these? Thanks.

Most parts for manufactured homes tend to differ from the standard stick built components that you will find at Lowe's or HomeDepot. But it is now easier than ever to get replacement and renovation parts for your MH because everything you need is available at our on-line parts store. You will find doors, windows, screens, plumbing and electric parts, bath and kitchen fixtures, roof and ceiling components, and more.... even set-up materials,

You can replace your doors with regular house doors. firt you need to measure from floor to about an inch below the ceiling trim you need a minimum of 82 inches. Then you will need to cal a contractor to do the job unless you know how to do this. I hope this helps! I changed mine and i couldnt be happier with the results.

Judy,
Most bigger building supply stores carry storm doors for Manufactured Homes. Just make sure you measure twice!
Also, many dealers sell them as well.

It's a lot of work, but if you're somewhat handy you can most certainly make the hole big enough. We have all normal Pella windows, a Pella french door, and regular doors on our home now. It's saved us a lot of money. They are insulated considerably better than the ones designed for this particular mobile. The old doors were so light and flimsy one could pick them up with one hand.
