New one piece shower

Post by Les » Tue Aug 31, 2004 12:17 pm

Has anyone here put in a new one piece shower? I looked at a 48" 1 piece shower at Lowe's and wanted to know how difficult it would be to install one. I have a garden tub that we rarely use in the master bath and was thinking of ripping it out and replacing it with the one piece shower. Do you have to build some kind of frame for the unit? What about supports if it has a seat in it?

Bob Vila I ain't.

Les,

First problem with a 1-piece shower is getting it into the bathroom. If you can accomplish that feat, then anything is possible.

Next difficult task will be moving the drain pipe to line-up with the drain of the new shower. Moving walls and waterlines normally isn't too a difficult of a task. Just don't try to do everything in one day!

Mark,

Thanks for the reply. One good thing is the master bath has double doors so if I can get the shower into the house then it should fit into the bathroom. I figure two to three days to get the old tub out and put in the new shower. I am planning on taking my time and doing this right the first time.
