Quest Flex Tubing

Post by Linda Ramos » Tue Jul 15, 2003 5:05 pm

I am dealing with a NIGHTMARE, I had a leak at the bottom of my gas hot
water tank on 5/23/03 the insurance company did the paperwork. Repairs
began, Servicemaster moved my tank in and out 3 times, they could not
repair the tubing it just kept leaking and breaking, they called Roto Rooter
out they Roto Rooter have been here 4 times, just yesterday a second
connection broke again, they reglued said let it sit for 24 hours. I just
had to relight my pilot and turned the water back on.

But I am understanding from my Plumbing Supply house that there is
a Class Action Law Suit against the mfg company of the tubing
Quest Tubing, I contacted Shamrock and they advised me to go on
their web site. Can anyone assist me with the information or web site
address.

Going crazy in Connecticut with WATER

Thanks much,

Linda

I am not a plumber...but I had no idea that Quest Flex tubing was ever glued...I thought that is was connected with compression fittings...

After doing a quick search..I found this phone number on other discussion boards..Will it help you...Who knows..but the call is free..

Linda,

I also did a quick search using Excite on "Quest Flex tubing " and found many sites and message boards on this subject as well.

Apparently there is a class action suit that provides for some reimbursement for
M/H & other owners with quest tubing..I haven't found it yet, but keep in touch and
we can share any info that is found. Bud

Hi, read your email regarding class action suit against Quest piping. I called the Consumer Plumbing Recovery Center Tel: (800) 876-4698. for Poly Butylene Plumbing. They also have a website you can look at. www.pbpipe.com

Apparently they have dates of your Manufactured Home built from April 95 thru July 31, 1995. If your home was built after that date (mine was built in November 1995) then you'd qualify. But another hitch, this is only good for 10 years which expired July 31, 2005. The lawsuit is against Shell Oil Company which sold raw resin to plumbing supply stores. You can read about this on-line. The lady from Consumer Plumbing Recovery Center is sending me the information regarding the attorneys who were represented against Shell. I'm planning on calling the attorney to see if there is anything that can be done. My whole house is Quest Plumbing and therefore, will continue to have problems unless I get my whole house done with copper piping and I can't afford that. Darla
