We are getting ready to close on a 200sq, manufactuered home built in 2001. It was a repo, not on perm foundation, on a few acres.
We love it there....however, my family and myself nearly died in a housefire when I was a teenager, and I'm not sure about the "flamability" of these newer homes. I know they have a lot more regulations now...but any info would be appreciated, I've not been able to track anything down on the net. I don't know the maufacturer's name.
Thanks
fire fears....
Re: fire fears....
A manufactured home, built to the HUD code will perform and supress fire as good or maybe even better then any other home on the market.
I would make sure the smoke alarms are all in place and work. Check the furnance flue pipe for connection and where it passes through the roof, make sure it is tight and sealed at the ceiling penitration.
Make sure that the home has not been altered, in any way.
If all above is ok, you should be good and safe.
PS...I do not work for the manufactured home industry.

Not to worry - the old ones didn't have sheetrock, and that was the problem.
