Depends on what you call modular. At one time there were homes constructed on a steel framework that were moved on a truck and were more like an office than a manufactured home. I haven't seen any of those for a long time and they were very expensive. I have been an Oregon licensed real estate broker since 1969 and my husband was a general contractor and always built the homes we lived in until he became severely disabled. The last few years we decided we needed to live closer to our son than 15 miles and that we could no longer live out in the country unless our son was closer. We found a triple wide repo that we bought for $54K; took about $10K to move it and barge it around the Siuslaw River railroad bridge and have had quite a lot of expense for concrete under, foundation, mud room, garage, etc. Presently having drywaller repair the extensive damage from the move where walls separated from ceiling. Hopefully it will all be worth it as we will be 2 long blocks from the house we found for our son and I will be 2 miles to town.
Good luck.
