Average weight of a MH section

Post by Jet Sets » Mon Jul 26, 2004 6:45 pm

I've got a odd question-
Is there an average weight of a Manufactured Home Section? Also, what is the typical towing weight for a Manufactured Home section.
Thanks!

My 2004 32x80 Skyline: 2x6 walls, 2x8 floor joist, OSB floors, Sheetrock throughout. Each section weighed 24,000 lbs. :)

My 32x76 (actual size) Horton off frame modular with 2x4 walls, 2x10 floors, 3/4" osb sub floor, 1/2" OSB house wrap and roof and sheetrock throughout weighed just over 29,000 for each half (as weighed by the cranes on board scale). I don't know what the frames weighed, a few thousand each I'm sure, so add that in if you are leaving the frames on.

Sheetrock and 2x6 walls

What year did builders start building manufactured homes with sheetrock and 2x6 walls. Also, what specification applies to those homes? Thanks for your help.

2 x 6 walls have been available since the late 1970s. Finished sheetrock since about 1985. Unfinished sheetrock (bluenail) has been available since the late 1970s. i'm not sure what you are asking about specifications.
