I am reading a lot about the new concrete siding they are putting on homes now and wonder if anyone has any thoughts good or bad about it.

The lap version tends to show any imperfection behind it. But it was our siding of choice in the rainy Northwest, where bad Inner-Seal siding grew mushrooms. So far, fabulous.
