Buying A Norris Greenbriar

Post by Neil » Tue May 04, 2004 7:25 pm

Hello,

We've been looking for months trying to find a Norris floorplan that has the room we require. A bowling buddy of mine has been with clayton for over 20 years and swears he's giving me a good deal on this one.

Here's the plan
http://www.clayton.net/images/home/26GRB32763MH04.jpg

Details:

2x6 walls
2x8 floors
osb wrap, roof, and floors
upgrade carpet
cedar siding
upgrade appliances
zone 3
thermal windows
6 panel interior doors

The price is $79,500 set up.

Any thoughts or comments are greatly appreciated ;) Would love to hear from people living in a Norris now.

Thanks
Neil

we have a 1997 norris...3/2
these are the problems we have encountered over the last couple of years:
the windows stick and are very difficult to open, however, we live within a stone's throw from a rock quarry with blasting being done weekly.
the finish on the oak cabinets did not last the way we thought it would.
the faucets must have been poor quality as we have replaced all of them.
the carpet was also poor quality even though it was supposed to be an upgrade.
some of the stones on the rock fireplace became loose.

this is not to discourage your purchase. just wanted to let you know the little things we've come across as norris owners.
all in all we are very satisfied with our home. if i could change anything about our purchase, i would have gotten carpet in the bedrooms only and i would have expanded the laundry room a bit...really tight squeeze in there. we got everything else we wanted...fireplace, sliding patio door, sky lights... oh, we have had a little leak problem with one of those. purchase your own appliances if they still offer GE...we have replaced everything except the stove. the ac/heating system has been good.
