Sounds like a dumb question...

Post by becky » Sat Feb 28, 2004 10:46 pm

I know this sounds like a dumb question, but I'm trying to figure out everything here. I keep being drawn to manufactured homes over a site built. I think because I like being able to get something new and up to date and not have to worry about things going wrong. Well anyway, here is my question. Say I buy a "relatively" new MH, and it is in a community, but I want to move it to my own lot. Is it safe to do that? Or would it not be recommended. Second dumb question, what exactly is skirting? Third dumb question, if I buy a MH now, and put it onto my own lot, would I be able to put it onto a permanent foundation later? Now I have exausted my use of dumb questions for the day. Have a good night!

Becky, you cn safely move the home this is done on daily basis, skirting is the material that covers the exposed area from the home to the ground cn be vinyl, brick ,block etc. and yes you can put a home on a permanent foundation after it is set,BUT if you are planning on doing so, it is cheaper to do it now during the initial setting...at least you should do the pillow footings now the perimeter footings and block can be done at a later time with little problems.

No questions are dumb questions.....One thing you want to do is consider buying your land now..with mortgage finace at the low rates they are..vs..high home only loan rates plus lot rent..Most folks find the payments lower for a land home package than putting a home in a park at all...

The other post here answers your questions well..

ASK here often..
