Skyline,quality and good price?

Post by hvacak472003 » Wed Jan 14, 2004 6:55 pm

I am about to purchase my first house and have found a house made by skyline that i really like. It is a royal manor A657CT/7628. It has 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms and is 2001 sq. ft. The house will be all drywall with base shoe moulding. I think it comes with novodeck flooring 2x6 floor joist 24" o.c.Graded 2x6 exterior studs 16 o.c and the appliance upgrades. The ceiling inside is flat rather then cathedral wich is one of the reasons I like this house. The house alone with out foundation or property is $75,000.If someone could tell me the good and the bad with this model and sugest any upgrades or changes that should be made. And also if $75,000 sounds like a good price for this house. Any help would be great since i plain on raising my 2 children and living in this house for many years. THANKS IN ADVANCE

I am not sure in which area of the country you are in...but for this MUCH money construction specs should be the best in the industry..

NovaDeck..24 inch centers on the floor..2x6 floor joists are not amoung the best..

Upgrades...OSB or plywood floor..

2x8 floor joists..
16 inch centers for the floor..walls..and cieling...
2x4 interior walls..

All should be in a home that costs this much..

I live in Maryland and I think the house will be built in Vermont.Do you know if skyline offers those upgrades to the floors and if they do the house probally has them allready but I will make sure it does before I make up my mind.If they dont offer these upgrades what other companys are in my area that may be a better choice. Thanks a lot for the quick responce.

I am not too familier with the specifics of homes in your area....but I am sure there are many who have quality features..

I am not a fan of pressboard floors...This would be a deal breaker for me if it could not be upgraded..
