UL Finally!

Post by Eugene Tartt » Sun Nov 09, 2003 6:29 am

Well, it's finished. A/C and electrical are
done. My A/C is a York 12 seer 5 ton heat pump package unit with 10KW heat strips.
My electrical is "underground" with every circuit oversized and run in conduit. Total cost: $3,100. (I was able to get everything at cost) There of course are a few minor problems with the home, (punch list) but that is to be expected. Overall it has been a great experience. I get my final inspection tommorrow (monday) and I will move to my new castle Friday! YaY!! I am very pleased with everything, the knowledge I learned here is invaluable. My friends and contractors are amazed at how beautiful and substansal my home is. I am finally realizing my dream of my own home in the country, and I am very happy and very blessed. (and tired) I encourage everyone to do their homework, and I wish everyone the same success I have had. Thank's to everyone for following my story, God Bless:)

does the fact that you upgraded to a 12 seer a/c automatically make your unit one with a heat pump? (is that worded correctly??).

any way that you could post a picture and share your new abode with us?

Thank's Charlotte. In answer to your question Lacey, The SEER rating is not particular to a "Heat Pump". The SEER rating is your choice in the equipment you select. Every increase in a SEER rating increase's the effeciency about 20% and the price about $200. In warmer climates, such as here in FLA, a heat pump is the way to go. In very cold climates a gas pack is the way to go. My unit came with a "scroll compressor" and a 10 year warranty.
I hope this helps. I will work on a picture or two to post:)

SEER rating is the energy rating of the air condition cycle of the unit...be it a heat pump or a/c...

Currently 10 SEER is the minimum for both...12 SEER is 20% more efficient..14 SEER is 40% more efficient..and so on..More efficiency cost more to produce and maintain..but save energy..

Go to www.energystar.gov for good understanding of energy savings in a home..
