Issues with sales.. stuck between a Fuqua and Karsten..

Post by Jenn » Mon Sep 01, 2003 8:54 pm

I am looking to place a manufactured house on property in Western Washington. I REALLY like Fuqua's "Gemini" and the Karsten 60053...

FUQUA:

Today I went to the Fuqua dealer to only get the "run around" to the point of walking away from the dealer for an hour.. only to return because I want the product. I can't get any straight answers from the sales person and frankly I would prefer to take my business elsewhere.

My probem with going somewhere else is that I haven't been able to make any contact with the two other dealers in the state of Washington.

KARSTEN:

Is my second choice, only because I like the attention to detail and the outside appearance of the Fuqua. I have tried to price out the Karsten with the same structural specifications as the Fuqua but between the two different dealers I have talked to the prices are contradictory.

I would like to know from people that own the products how the service departments are to work with and if you would purchse another one in the future.

Also if you have purchased your home in Washington or Oregon are you happy with the dealer?

Please let me know.

We are also looking at Fuquas, they are GREAT homes, very highend looking. We talked to a sales person in Missouri, who is great to work with and gave us many ideas of how we could do things in the homes we're torn between,no pressure, nothing, will be nice working with him when we make our total decision.

FUQUA:

I haven't been pressured but it is the games "I will have to get back to you". I just wish I could find another dealer that would respond. I have already called the manufacturer's rep. down in Oregon and I guess I will have to try again..

KARSTEN:

No pressure there either. I really like one dealer but numbers ar not matching at all from the two I have talked to.

I am in the process of getting a Valley Quality home put on my property in Coulee City, Wa. These homes are built in Washington and are extremely well built! I am going through the Moses Lake outfit and so far have had a super good experience. Check out their website. There are many good testimonials and they will even give you phone numbers you can call and talk to prior customers. I think for the money you will get more home with a Valley home.

We had a Karsten triple placed on our land in Northwest Oregon last December by Santiam Homes. All went quite well and we are very pleased. The Fuqua homes we looked at had lots of eye candy (to us) but the basic construction was similar in quality and my opinion was that the Karsten had slightly better components in places.

Hi

Just thought I would tell you about our friends experience with the fuqua dealer in moses lake. Product was far from on time with installation. Also one year later FINALLY got things finished from install and fixed. BUT, had to go to the factory to do it because the dealer promised the moon and never followed through.
He said he would buy a fuqua BUT not from that dealer.
Have you looked at Marlette, does anyone have a input besides the chapter 11???

thanks
Sheryl

Just want to clarify. I am buying a Valley Quality home in Moses Lake, not a Fuqua. The folks at Valley are great and after talking to previous customers, I am convinced that the service is great. The homes are built in Sunnyside, Wa. and they are more than happy to take you on a tour of the factory. Check out the standard features on these homes: copper plumbing throughout, 40# roof load, 2 x 8 floor joists at 16" oc, actual cdx plywood decking, 2 x 6 ext walls at 16" oc, actual 2 x 4 int walls, 1/2" sheetrock on the walls and 5/8 on the ceiling, etc. All of this for less than $40 a square foot.

I have not checked this page since my last post.. and funny to say I purchased a VALLEY QUALITY HOME this past weekend. No run around on prices, very professional and well worth the drive to Yakima for me.

It was the first dealer to actually follow through with any thing that I have asked of them and by the time I was done looking at the homes I felt comfortable with my decision.

If anyone is looking for a house I would suggest you look at them before you make a final decision.

Hi Jenn:

I'm glad you found what you need at Valley. I checked a bunch of different homes and sort of discovered valley by accident. I was on my propery in Coulee and picked up a Spokane newspaper and saw the ad for their houses. We went to Moses Lake and right from the start, we knew this was the house to buy. What model are you getting? We are getting the Cottage with a lot of upgrades from the manors. It will be our retirement home so we don't need a big house. I still say that there are probably not any manufactured h omes out there that can match the Valley homes for the money.
Regards,
Kurt.

I purchased one from the Mansion series... 1902 sf. I have two children so it had what I needed. I put berber carpet throughout and put lino in the master bath.

I added a step up window for the front and put french doors in the "family room" the "dining room" is my study.

The "family room" is an eating and TV area for the kids.

I can't wait to see it when it is done!
