Not sure what to buy

Post by Jennifer » Sun Mar 23, 2003 12:03 pm

My Husband and I are going to get a new home this Summer, we have been looking at Doublewides, but I have been looking on the net about if they are good or not. It seems that they are really put together very fast and alot of complaints about them. We don't have a really high income and we don't want to spend to much money on something that is not going to last long. I would like to build a house, but that is a long process. Any suggestions ?

To start, you found a great group for advice. Everyone here has something to
offer. You might want to buy Randy's book titled "How To Buy A Manufactured
Home and Save Thousands of Dollars." It has helped me and others learn how to
tell the good from the bad, and what to look for. Most folks make the mistake of
buying something before they know a lot about what they are buying. The book
will help you to learn the huge differences in good and bad homes.

As you are looking at various homes while trying to decide on a good one, ask
questions here. This group is very good about answering questions.

good luck

Build it, then you will know its right and you can be sure that you can go back after the contractor. It is really hard to go after manufactures. Trust me I have been fighting mine for eight years. With interest so low go for the best. Be part of it going up too is alot of fun.

I guess you have not read all of the HADD site...scores of stick builders are listed with problems..
