Mr. Murray,

You seem to have an insiders knowledge to the MH business. With oakwood filing chapter 11, any other HM manufacturers on the brink that you know of? I have heard Fleetwoods name mentioned, but I think the RV business will keep them afloat.

I think this would be very valubale information for anyone looking into buying a new MH home.

The industry has had a lot to deal with in the last 2 years...But which if any of the current players will make it takes is something no one can really know...Even Oakwood syas they will make it through this restructuring...

Maybe the best defense consumers can have is a 2/10 warranty from a strong insurance company...In addition to the excellent additional peace of mind they provide...They would kick in in the event of a bankruptcy and cover the big problems that can arise..There is a section on this web site offering a good policy...or ask your dealer..they should all have good policies available..

Exactly what has Fleetwood had to deal with in the last 2 years? We are looking into buying either Fleetwood Entertainer or a Champion home that has the exact same floor plan as the Fleetwood. We were told that Fleetwood is lowering their warranty to one year! That definently was a turn down. Any advice on which home is better is appreciated. Thanks! Emails with advice are also appreciated.
