for me. I saw a Southern Energy with a huge MB with his and hers baths and a sitting area. I loved that idea. The rest of the floor plan was adequate, except that since the MB took up so much of the house there was no room for a separate dining room. (I have a formal dining table that belonged to my Nanny and also a 50's Formica-topped table and vinyl chairs, so I want to be able to use both of them.) I COULD, though, just set the dining table up against a wall in the LR (it is a drop-leaf and not large) and just drag it out when we needed it. Then I would be able to use the space of a dining room somewhere else. Although, and I just thought about this, I was planning on using the dining room as a library also.
See my quandary? I wonder if I would actually use all that space in the MB and wish later that I had it for a dining room/library. I love to read and think I would like a place where I could go and have my own chair, TV (for HGTV!), bookcase, etc. and have a cup of tea, get away from the other TV and computer (which are sometimes going at the same time!).
Give me some ideas of what is important to you guys in a floor plan. You may give me some ideas I haven't thought of.

I looked at that same Southern Energy model and I also loved the master bedroom, but I think down the road you're going to want that space for your dining room. On the other hand, if you're like me and you only have sit-down family dinners 2 or 3 times a year, the separate dining room becomes less important. You might also want to check out Clayton's line known as Norris. I saw a model like the one you described - His and Her bathrooms and a large master bedroom, but it DID have enough space in the greatroom for a big dining room table. I also have a lot of books and I'm planning to buy a backyard barn/shed and put most of the books in there.
