A couple months ago I posted about the seller of land requiring a garage level with the house, which I wasn't going to do because it added to the cost of the house and I was going to have a 2000+sq. ft. basement where I could have a nice garage. I didn't need that much space. Anyway, I have since found a MUCH NICER lot (20 acres!) next to a state park. I had already put a deposit on the mfg. house and working with a salesman that I liked. About a month ago, I had an accident (went off my horse and suffered brain contusions. doing much better now!) and the salesman had a tragedy just the day after this accident. His wife was killed in an auto accident. He is back to work after almost 3 weeks, but he doesn't seem to have much enthusiasm. Before the accident, he was willing to call contractors and set things up, but now he isn't. He told me I should do that. Having NEVER done this before, I don't know what all is needed. I have contacted contractors for the septage and well and horse barn and pretty much have them lined up. But what else do I need? I know I need a contractor for the basement, but what other things do I need and who will oversee these so that they are done right. What should I expect from the mfg. house dealer? I'm planning to talk to him again, but I'd like a little direction as to what I should insist from him. He has suffered a terrible tragedy and I don't know how long it will take him to recover. Should I speak to the manager and ask for a new person to deal with.
Anything that you can provide will be MOST appreciated!+
Need some direction/advice
Re: Need some direction/advice
Whew...You should expect lots of advise and guidence from your dealer...You are right about your salesperson..He needs a little RR time...but..you cannot allow this to cost you major mistakes...
I think your deal might be the help that he needs...Get his mind onto the goal..in stead of the past..
Management must have good confidence in him...but will think it is very important for him to move forward soon...A bad attitude can cost the dealer many thousands in lost business...I might suggest a private conversation with the manager...Suggest that he monitor your deal closely...Suggest that this will be good for the sales person and ultimately the whole business...If the manager values this sales person talent...He will be very appreciative of your effort to help and will coorperate with you...
But...after you give it a try...remember this is your home...your future...and act accordingly..
P.S. Next time you ride the horse...wear a seat belt..ouch

Re: THANKS!!
This is a delicate situation and as much as I want to be sympathetic, you're right this is my home and my money. I'm putting every cent I own into this and I DO want to make sure everything goes well. I had been tossing around the idea of talking to the manager there. I will do that. I think that is a good approach (just have to figure out how to go about doing that!). I want to get things lined up as soon as possible so that when the loan is approved things can get started. I'm hoping to be in the house in October! Just days before all this happened the sales man and I went up there to look at the property and the route to it. He said the house wouldn't be able to make it around a corner in the town, so he was going to take a drive around the area to find other routes. Now, he doesn't seem interested in doing that. I am trying to be understanding, but I'm REALLY antsy about all of this too!
hehehehe........my boss (who's afraid of horses and is a former football player -- go figure!) keeps saying stay off him. I keep telling him not a chance! Doctor said 6 months. Only five to go! Good thing I'm not as foggy as I was a couple weeks ago. I can concentrate on this much better now!
Thanks for your help!
