we just purchased 1st man. home need advise please

we bought a foreclosure, 26x74 double wide. not sure of age or manufacturer (possibly 20 yr old titan?). How can I find out what it is? what should I know about cosmtic repairs eg walls, ceiling? Not sure what you call the "stuff" on thw walls(panel board? looks like wal paper paneling) and ceilings?(thinner than sheetrock, textured). Can I replace ceiling with sheetrock or is that too heavy? How can I best paint the walls? thanks

Hello Sheryl,

Look at your electrical box there may be a sticker or tag that indicates year of home and make. On the outside there might be a metal tag which also indicates year and make. The interior is called gymsum board, it is 1/4 thick probably, very cheap stuff. It's a lot of work to take it down but I know of several couples that have and taken down the gymsum board and replaced it with 1/2" sheet rock. Good luck.
