Valley Quality Homes

Post by Terry » Fri Apr 19, 2002 6:23 pm

I just went to the Valley Homes web site and I'm totally amazed at the difference between these houses and the regular run-of-the-mill manufactured homes here in the southeast US. I haven't seen any dealership in this area that shows anything approaching the appearance of Valley HOmes, which look like regular site-built houses. Why?

Hello Terry,

Valley is unique because the owner has a high standard for his homes and he controls the factory and the retail lots. This is rare and if you're considering a manufactured home and Valley is in your budget, I would recommend them.

Valley is probably NOT in my budget, but is there any other manufacturer with dealers in the Georgia/Alabama/Tennessee area that compares with the outward appearance of Valley? I think the thing that really adds to the negative impression of manufactured homes is the "mobile-home" look. Why can't the industry get around this?

Terry...there are many unusual exterior looks available in the SE market..The problem is..dealers inventory to the market...Today...with the advantage of mortgage finance that many customers want to take advantage of..requires that the homes appraise....Unfortunately some of the highest price homes do not...dealers cannot afford to have a show place with homes that do not sell...

That said...There are some very nice looking sales centers all over the SE...Randy Helton Homes in central GA has somehow made his Fleetwood product shine...

Also you might want to check out Georgia Housing Center in Athens..web site www.georgiahousingcenter.com they are a Horton Modular dealer with the builder line...

Also..Adrian Homes has exclusive sales centers all over the SE with only their modular lines...

There are many others...you just have to hunt them down...The advantage of being in the SE is that there are hundreds of dealers (about 2000 in the states you mentioned) and many products to chose from..Many price ranges to see..

Just remember these mods...ranch style, 2 story, cape cods...the list goes on..all run about $ 65 to $70 per/ft...Quality traditional manufactured homes are about $ 36/ft....and those that are selling in volumn are about $ 25/ft...Your pocket book as well as your desires will have to come into play here..Good Luck

Why is there such a difference in the price per square footage? I would assume that the difference in these homes is more than just aesthetic with that kind of price differential, which I'm not willing to pay. I can live with the "mobile home look" for that much less money.
