Building On Pilings? $?

Post by John » Mon Apr 15, 2002 6:29 pm

It looks like we might have to build our new house on pilings - we're building in an "AE" flood zone. The house is 1760 sq. ft. (28x66). We've been told that building on pilings will cost around $20,000. Is this pretty acurate? What if we didn't do the full 8 feet or so and just built about 4 feet off the ground. I know this would involve less lumber, but would it be considerably cheaper? How much?

Thanks So Much,
John

Shop around for the service...I have not done pilings in a while but we sure never paid nearly that much...You have to put the home 1 foot above the flood plain...If you can put it 4 foot high....you do not need pilings....just a high block set..and only a few hundred more than a regular set...

Good Luck
