Comparing Models at different dealers

Post by Katie » Sun Apr 14, 2002 7:09 am

Randy, I notice in your book, you say that in order to find out whether the price of a home is inflated, go to different dealers and compare prices of the same model, however, I have YET to see the same model sitting on two or more dealer lots. When I've asked about ordering such and such a model because it's not one of their display models, I get "Oh, we can't order that line. that's the lower/upper scale line from Whomever Homes. We only deal with this line." For instance, I go to a Homes of Merit Dealer and see a model I like They want $80,000. Then I go to another Homes of Merit dealer and ask about the same model, and I get the "different line" response. So how can I compare?

I woulod suggest you go to the manufacturer's web site and find a list of dealers in your area...Be sure you you check the site for the model you like...
example...Homes of Merit built in Lake City, FL can be found at www.homes-of-merit.com ....... the Bartow plants can be found at www.homesofmerit.net ...

If you cannot find dealers in your area...call the sales managers and tell them what you are trying to do..

Hello Katie,

I would also contact the factory and ask them if this model exists on any othe lot. With each model there is a base price.
