Best homes in Louisiana

Post by Kim » Sat Dec 08, 2001 7:25 pm

I'm looking for the best made homes in the South Louisiana area. I have a single wide Belmont that is three years old and i have had a lot of trouble with it but it was cheap and I hadn't planned on living in it forever. I'd like more room and I'm looking for a double wide but because of the junk that we live in now I am having trouble trying to convince my hubby to buy another "house on wheels" I have my reasons for wanting another "mobile" home one being that we live on his family's property and I want to be able to move my house if I decide not to live here anymore. I know there are quality homes out there but some of them are not near us like Solitaire and Karsten. I've looked at Franklin and liked them but MAN were they expensive. I've also looked at Schult and liked the prices a lot better. I don't want to make ANOTHER mistake and I don't mind paying more for a quality home but $85,000 was a bit too much (Franlkin) I also need a company that will be willing to make wider door openings because I am in a wheelchair....you'd be amazed how many have told me "no". Any advice appreciated

Hello Kim,

Try Palm Harbor, Schult and Champion. A quality built manufactured homes will cost about $40 per square foot. Schult will probably offer the biggest bang for the dollar. I would encourage you to deal with them. But you'll probably need to add some up-grades to get the quality you're looking for.
