For anyone considering a mobile home, if at all possible buy a home & remodel. The construction is cheap, carpet is very low grade, dryer outlets must be replaced to fit all dryers, tile in kitchens are cheap stick down tiles. Dont be suckered into the fancy showroom models. They will not last.

RE: Solitaire
Renee, Depending on how well you maintain your home it should very well last on you. I have a 1999 Solitaire 18x80 manufactured home. I am very pleased with the construction and the materials they used. I also have a vacation home that's a doublewide by Solitaire outside of Scottsdale, Arizona. I grew up in a 1974 14x84 Solitaire home and it's the best constructed home. They always used a plywood floor with grid work in the floors. They also always wrapped their homes in plywood undersheathing under the tin skin they used to have. Now they use hardboard siding. Yes the carpet needs to upgraded a little maybe to a grade 3 or better and I spoke with JD Hogstad about that. He said they try to keep the costs down and load up their homes with quality materials and the workmanship is excellent. I hate to tell you but, I find them to be one of the best constructed homes in the manufactured housing industry. No one uses the gridworks in the floors and ceiling like they do. I don't know what year of a home you have.
RE: Mobile Homes
Hello Renee,
Your right mobile homes that where built prior to 1976 were poorly built. But most manufactured homes of today have the same type of construction as site built homes. Once again...you need to look at quality built manufactured homes and you'll end up with a wonderful home.

Hi, I read that you have a vacation home outside of scottsdale - we are looking into moving to Chandler, and the affordability of mfh's is very attractive. We are looking to buy one in a community in Chandler that includes amenities such as a pool, and allows teenagers. Can you advised where to get started. You can email me directly if you wish @ [email protected]. thanks
